I’ve been thinking a lot about rain lately. Mostly because my sinuses are crying for it. This good old armpit of California I live in could use a really good rain to clean out all the junk in the air! Not to mention we are in a drought and just need the water in general. What’s interesting about rain is that symbolically it is used both positively and negatively. Positively it is often used in ways such as a shower of blessings. Negatively, it is often used to describe hard times that fall upon us. But sometimes I think these seemingly opposite views are actually one in the same. Rain can be wonderful. It’s good, cozy, cuddle-up-on-the-couch-and-read-or-watch-a movie kind of weather. But really, it can be quite uncomfortable having to be out in rain, especially driving in it. But it is that very discomfort that is necessary to bring the very water we need for everyday life and to clean out all the junk and give a fresh start and clearer view. Kind of like what the storms in our lives can do, don’t you think? 😉

I, too, am yearning for rain. It has been so dry that my compost heap won’t even rot!
