New Message from Jesus

Posted on October 5, 2012. Filed under: Uncategorized |

The world of text messaging and social media has increased the number of messages we receive everyday. And there is the aspect of “information overload,” but for the most part, I think we love these messages. If you’re like me, you get kind of excited when your text message notification goes off, wondering who it is and what it’s about. And you sign on to Facebook and hope to see that someone has made a comment to you or sent you a message. With smart phones, we can do this all day long. And we usually do.

Why aren’t we this anxious and excited to hear from Jesus? He has a message for us every morning. And He wants to be the first thing on our minds as we wake up. (“He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.” Isaiah 50:4bThe first thing most of us do is check our phones or computers, totally ignorant of the fact that Jesus was waiting for us! In reality, what is all that other stuff compared to a message from our Creator and Savior?

Jesus has sent us a message. Are we going to respond? He wants to start a conversation with us that lasts all day long. What conversation could be better than that?

“In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3

Hmm…Interesting. How much different would we respond if we checked our text messages and we had a text from Jesus? That would be plain awesome! But yet we don’t understand that He gives us more than a simple text message every day, He gives us His whole word! You are right, Trina, sometimes we are just plain “ignorant”!

Yes, we get messages from Jesus all the time, they just look different so we don’t recognize them.
