Book Review: “The Shelter of God’s Promises.”

Posted on February 21, 2011. Filed under: Uncategorized |

The “Shelter of God’s Promises” by Sheila Walsh combines narrative with Bible study to explore some of God’s promises found in Scripture that provide answers to our most asked questions and troubled places in life. Promises include provision, peace, confidence, love, grace, hope, strength, more, and home. The book also contains an in-depth Bible study at the end for those who want to go deeper on the topics discussed in the book.

In exploring these promises, Sheila Walsh uses examples from her own life, as well as stories from the Bible that show these promises in action. She goes beyond a quick read of these biblical stories and gets to the hearts of the people and the situations, and brings to life the struggles and the way God’s promises were brought about. She also draws in historical and background information, as well as insight into the meanings of the original Hebrew and Greek words of the Scriptures.

I highly recommend this book. It is powerful, encouraging, and insightful, providing lots of knowledge and depth, but is able to accomplish this while being a very easy and enjoyable read.
