The Greatest Fear

Posted on May 16, 2010. Filed under: Uncategorized |

My brother recently told me about this show he learned about in his phsycology class called “Obsessed” which helps people to get over their compulsive behaviors. For example, a person who was a major germaphobic was forced to touch the toilet seat of a porta potty. I think God does a similar thing with us sometimes. He leads us through places of our greatest fears to help us to trust in Him and to prune us of attitudes, fears, and behaviors that keep us from being all He wants of us. He doesn’t do it to be cruel, but because He wants better for us. And He will carry us every step of the way. Maybe that’s what this season that I’m going through is all about. Because what’s more scary for a perfectionist than for things to be out of my control and to become so overwhelmed and exhausted that I can no longer meet up to all the expecations from other or from myself? And when I can no longer be everything to everyone and have to learn the magic word, “NO!” I’ve been going crazy not liking who I am right now but not being able to do anything about it. I pray for the strength to embrace this season and find out who God wants me to be.
